There is a great article in the Charlotte Observer from Saturday, January 31, 2009 about Sun City Carolina Lakes. Mark O’Brien, a Pulte vice president for sales in Charlotte gave the statistics for this community and compared our numbers

with 8 county regional sales. It was impressive. Several residents shared their stories. I also agree with Mr.O’Brien when he says “…Sun City’s success shows that baby boomers are planning for the future.” Pulte has created a great complex with an infrastructure that allows all residents to maximize the active adult lifestyle, but we all know that it is the people that make this community what it is. As a realtor, it is fun to show homes in this community to potential buyers. When I’m showing homes to clients and we see residents walking outside,

 

I always stop and ask them the same question, “How do you like living here?” The response is always consistent. “We like it a lot and we’re glad we live in this POD because it’s the best.” I haven’t figured out how every POD can be the best, but somehow that’s how it is. My advice to buyers is that the community

has a lot to offer, but you have to put in the effort to take advantage of the fun, active, lifestyle that’s available to everyone.

 

As successful as this community has been, we are not immune from the current

market. Sale prices are lower, buyers are fewer, and deals are being made. We have to adjust to the current market and just be thankful we live here.
